This Sunday, we're going to be doing a new song. We've been playing it at the end of the service for a few weeks. It's called "Always So Good." Here's something that the writers of the song wrote about it:
I think a piece of working out our faith is reminding ourselves of God’s faithfulness. I remember when Melinda Taylor and I sat down and talked about the idea that God quite literally can’t stop being good. There have been multiple times in my life that I have heard a promise from God and then entered a desert. In those moments it was hard to trust but I found myself needing to draw upon the stories of scripture where God came through. When you look at how the Israelites wandered the desert for 40 years you see the multiple times that they lost hope. Yet at the end of the story we see God literally moving the waters of the Jordan river so that they were able to walk into their promise on dry land. I know that I will find myself in a season again where it’s hard to trust God but I love the words of Always So Good because it’s a reminder to myself and hopefully so many others that when God makes a promise the answer is yes and amen.

Today I read the passage from Numbers 13 and 14 where the spies enter Canaan and come back with a report. As you may remember, 10 of the spies did not believe they could take the land. They only saw the obstacles. However, Joshua and Caleb reminded everyone of how God had been faithful in the past. They only saw potential.
In the end, the Israelites chose fear over faith and paid the price. It's so easy to forget God's faithfulness in the past. I got some troubling news today and this song has been running through my head. God is always so good!
