In the second half of 1 Corinthians 12, Paul continues his explanation of spiritual gifts being for the common good by using the analogy of the human body. Every member of the body has a specific function, a gifting, that is vitally important to the overall health and wellbeing of the whole body. A healthy and unified body will manifest the power of God and advance the kingdom of God.
