“Knowledge puffs up while love builds up” seems like an odd thing to say when considering whether to eat food that had been sacrificed to idols. Paul’s point to the Corinthian believers was that it was not about the food. Rather the Corinthians’ inappropriate boasting of their own knowledge and their behavior towards “weaker” brothers and sisters reflected their inappropriate heart attitude.
