When Jesus was crucified, it wasn’t the triumph of darkness over light. Jesus’ crucifixion was ordained even before the creation of the world. It was the fulfillment of the word of the Lord. The words Jesus spoke from the cross and the events at Calvary were directly referenced in Psalm 22, Psalm 31, Isaiah 53, and other scriptures. The perfect fulfillment of God’s word in the past and the wisdom and blessing it provides in the present reassures us that everything God has said about the future will also be fulfilled.
