You would think that the healing of a lame man would cause the religious leaders of the day to rejoice in the work of God. Instead, they imprisoned Peter and John, questioned them, threatened them, and released them only because all the people were praising God for what had happened. But there is one very important point to note about the interaction of the leaders with Peter and John: when they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus (v13).
