On Sunday, Pastor Philip preached on Judges 15. In an act of revenge, Samson gathered 300 foxed, tied their tails together in pairs with a lit torch, and set them loose in the grain fields of the Philistines. I've read that event over and over for decades, but I started thinking about something different this time. The way the story reads, Samson gets angry and does all of this immediately. However, think about the logistics of doing that. Trapping 300 foxes would take weeks or months. In that time, Samson would have to hold and feed all those foxes. He had to find the materials and make 150 torches. There wasn't a COSTCO arounf for that. Then he had to move THREE HUNDRED foxes to the fields and tie their tails together. This wasn't a rage-induced moment of revenge. He spent months planning and preparing his revenge. His single-minded devotion is both disturbing and amazing.

It got me thinking about us as followers of Jesus. Do we spend that type of energy on our spiritual lives? Do we plan and prepare to know the Lord better? Do we burn the fields of our sin so we can plant a harvest of righteousness? Do I have single-minded devotion on pursuing Jesus?

I hope you do!
