The Psalm for today is Psalm 70. I love this psalm because it was one that impacted me at a low point in my life several years ago. More recently, I prayed verse one over the course of a week…
“Be pleased, O God, to rescue me. O LORD, make haste to help me.”
We live in the reality of the Resurrection. The temporary trials of this life are meaningless when compared to the wonder of salvation. “…and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.”
AND YET…
We still must deal with the trials of this life. We are poor and needy. Apart from Him, we can do nothing. We bear the pain of rejection and the assaults of the enemy. It is a joy to suffer with Christ, but it doesn’t make the suffering any less real.
“Be pleased, O God, to rescue me. O LORD, make haste to help me.”
In this prayer, we can draw strength to persevere because we know that Yahweh’s answer is, “I am always with you, even to the end of the age.” God doesn’t have to run to help us because He is already with those who abide in Him.
“Be pleased, O God, to rescue me. O LORD, make haste to help me.” Amen, and Amen.
