As a follow-up to my sermon from Sunday, I want to share a quote from Russell Moore:
“Multiple pastors tell me, essentially, the same story about quoting the Sermon on the Mount, parenthetically, in their preaching — ‘turn the other cheek’ — (and) to have someone come up after to say, ‘Where did you get those liberal talking points?’ And what was alarming to me is that in most of these scenarios, when the pastor would say, ‘I’m literally quoting Jesus Christ,’ the response would not be, ‘I apologize.’ The response would be, ‘Yes, but that doesn’t work anymore. That’s weak.'”
This is a link to the entire article:

I have heard those very thoughts before spoken to me. It is shicking and troubling, and it says something about where many "Christians" are in our churches. If someone is willing to throw out Jesus' very words and the Gospel He represents because it doesn't fit a particular political agenda, then we have a significant problem. They are not worshipping Christ. They are worshipping a false god made in their own image and out of their own preferences.
So what can we do? We can let our light shine in the world so people will see our good deeds and praise our Father in heaven!
